Home Office: Ready your home office for when company comes

Published by debcook at 9:21 pm under organize Edit This

This weekend I have not been able to sit at my desk for more than five minutes. Company came in on Thursday and ever since I have had to squeeze in work time in short increments. Thank goodness for my laptop!

I am glad that I follow what I preach – organize, organize and organize some more. If I could not put my finger on just what I need at a moments notice there would be online payments and work projects that would not get done.

My desk is still covered with paperwork but none that I would worry about someone else seeing. We should always be aware of what others can see with a mere glance.

• Bank statements show your balance and whether it is large or small the roaming eye will see and an opinion will be formed.
• Investment statements are the same as far as balances should not be in plain sight.
• Letters from the IRS, a doctor or lawyer contains personal information and should not be left for others to read.
• Handwritten notes with usernames and passwords should be kept out of sight.

These should all be obvious things that we all think about but sometimes we get careless. We think that friends and family will not snoop. Believe me – they will.

Help yourself and others by keeping your important and personal information out of sight. If you learn to live that way you will be ready for company at a moments notice. If you need to work around house guests you will be prepared and will not fall behind on your work. If you don’t have a laptop – get one.
