Home Office: Winter Blues go away under the right light
Winter Blues is common to most of us. The reduced number of daylight hours mixed with cold, wet, windy and hazy weather makes us feel lonely, tired and disinterested in things that we normally enjoy. Typically the symptoms are not severe but they are bad enough to detract from daily activities.
Do we have to wait for days full of sunshine to feel better? Do others have to put up with your moodiness and the interrupted sleep patterns?
A “full spectrum light” is said to improve mood during the winter months. The light is blue and is an effective way to make humans feel as though they are spending time under a beautiful blue summer sky. Sitting near one of these lights for a short 15-30 minutes per day has lasting benefits throughout the day.
This may seem to be an unusual home office accessory. However, getting therapy while sitting at your desk is efficient time management. The better you feel, the more work you will get done, in the least amount of time.
Full Spectrum lights are easy to find. These are some brands to look for.
· The GoLite Blu
· Vita-Lite
· Verilux
· Apollo Lighting
Full Spectrum lights are quite expensive but the therapeutic benefits make up for much of the expense.
