Home Office: Ergonomics can start with your feet
Anyone that sits at a desk for several hours a day should think about his or her circulation. Sitting for too long can cause leg and back problems – some very severe. Heavy legs, aching back and neck strain can all stem from bad posture, which can start with your feet and legs.
It is best to stand up and walk around every so often to increase circulation and to stay alert. Sitting in a chair with you feet on the floor can restrict the blood that needs to be pumped back to your brain.
A simple fix for this problem is to place a small footstool under your desk. There are adjustable footrests that are made specifically for this purpose. Most adjustments are small ones – one to three inches. Some footrests adjust angle more than height. Your correct fit is important so shop around.
Put a footrest under your desk. It is the ergonomic thing to do.
