Home Office: Do you work in pajamas?
Very few people are lucky enough (in my opinion) to work from home. Some jobs are conducive to an at home environment others are not. That same thing can be said about the worker as well.
Workers that operate from their own home office should not feel so special that they make others from the office feel less important. There is a natural petty jealousy that is bred in these circumstances. It is natural to feel that others do not work as hard if they are not under the watchful eye of a supervisor.
The exact opposite is probably closer to the truth. Often more work gets accomplished without office distractions. Moe hours are typically spent working in a home office because there is no commute.
If you find yourself in a similar situation these are a few things to do. Attend meetings at the office and go to lunch with the team a time or two each week. Always have your work done on time – if not ahead of time. Never rub it in that you can work in your pajamas. Last but not least – don’t work in your pajamas.
