Home Office: Is yours safe?

Published by debcook under Living Edit This

Safety is a major consideration in all home offices. I would venture a guess that most of us do not think too much about it though.

Just a few of the hazards that could be in your home office are listed here:

· Cords can be tripped over
· Outlets tempt little fingers
· Shelves and bookcases could fall over
· Devices such as printers can be pulled off table or desk
· Small tacks and paper clips pose a choking hazard to small children

It may be best to just keep children and visitors out of the home office. Since this may be unreasonable for your lifestyle take the time to check things out and improve the safety factor where you can.

· Take a look around while on your knees – kid’s eye-view is much lower than yours.
· Don’t place items that resemble toys near equipment
· Keep ink cartridges and other items securely stored away that would tempt a child to try to eat or drink it.

Safety does not stop at securing your home office against accidents. Your hard work is in danger of being ruined by dirty hands and loss. Store important papers in file drawers and keep flash drives out of sight. A little planning goes a long way.
