Home Office - Dual Monitors not extreme

Published by debcook under Living Edit This

You may think that working on multiple monitors is a bit extreme for the average home office. You may also think that you do not have enough room to use multiple monitors. You may be right on both accounts but keep an open mind while you read this.

Using dual monitors does not mean that you have to take up double the space on your desk. There are specially designed monitor stands that hold two or more monitors on one single stand.

You only have a single video output on your video card. No problem because there are splitter cables and cables with USB connections that allow two separate monitors to work as one. A little bit of degrigation of the signal may be experienced with the USB setup but unless you are working on highly intense graphic program the issue is not a big one.

One of the most innovative answers to having a dual monitor without spending a lot of money is actually in the form of software. A downloadable software program called MaxiVista lets you use a laptop as a second monitor. I for one have an old laptop lying around not being used. It does not have to be a great laptop – it just needs to have a connection to your home network.

Do you work with digital photos? Do you research the internet for work? Do you play internet games? If you answered yes to any of these questions a dual monitor could be in your future.
