Home Office - Share it with the kids

Published by debcook under Living Edit This

Home offices are often shared with children. What do you do to keep them occupied while you get some work done? You should consider providing them a work space all their own.

Room permitting a small child’s desk for the smallest ones in the family (up to 6 years old) should be considered. For everything of yours you can replicate the more they will leave your stuff alone.

I saw a small desk called “Beck Children’s Wooden Art Desk” that was cool. It comes with a matching chair and a 100 foot roll of art paper attached. You will have to assemble it but the price is worth it at less than $50.

Another really cute child’s desk is the “The Write Desk”. It is made of heavy plastic and has an integrated seat. The corners are rounded and there is a shelf that holds crayons and markers. The built in work light rounds out this little desk’s appeal. The price of The Write Desk is also less than $50. Children from 24 months to 7 years should be able to use this desk easily.

An older child may need a safe place to surf the internet. An adjustable Laptop Notebook Computer Desk would be perfect. Not a lot of floor space required and the height can be adjusted from 30” to 37”. Some are glass for a modern look and others have wood finishes such as cherry wood.

Younger children want to emulate mom and dab while tween and teens want to be as different as they can be. No matter the age children need to be safe and comfortable. If you spend time in your home office it is a good idea to make the rest of the family comfortable there too.
