Home Office - Ike destroyed so many

Published by debcook under Living Edit This

I am so thankful for my home office. While seeing the devastation caused by hurricane Ike it reminds me how nice it is to just sit here and write. My computer works, my glass desk is all in one piece, my 42” television still entertains me and my family is safe.

How many people with homes caught in the storm have lost their home offices and all of their furniture and electronics.

I have an idea but not the means to make it happen. What if all of us with extra home office furnishings and electronics could match those items with people that have lost theirs on a one to one basis.

I see a list of donated items posted on a website by people like me that have two extra printers. They both work great – in fact one is still hooked to my computer – but I have already purchased a new one with WiFi. Once the hurricane victims started getting their lives back together they could access this list and contact the owners of available home office items. The two parties could arrange shipping and other incidentals.

Videos and photos could be posted showing the donated items being used. This would not be a way to get rid of your outdated junk – but it would be a way to share perfectly good home office items with people that need them more than you do.

I’m sure that I am not the only person trying to think of unique ways to help. My interest just happens to be helping people rebuild my favorite room – the home office.
