Desktop - Cable clutter

Whether your desk is at home or at the office it needs to be organized. The fewer cords, boxes and paper that clutter the desktop the better. One thing that I cannot stand is to have to move things around just to find an open place to lay my papers or to sit my laptop.
Sitting here at my desk I see a cord to my iPhone, a cord to my laptop, a cord to my docking station, a cord to my headphones and a cord to my wireless headset. It is crazy! I’ve tried moving them but they end up right back where they are. As much as I detest desk clutter I also detest having to search for what I need. Often I rush in and plug my gadgets in for a little while before I eat dinner.
I’ve seen those boxes that function as a charging station. Those take up too much room for my desktop. The search is on for a cord solution. One thing I have to keep in mind is that my cords have to be easy to grab and run. When I leave town I pack most of them so that I can charge my electronic gadgets on the go. Universal chargers are an option but I have not spent the time to research whether there would be a tip for each of my gadgets.
For now I guess I will leave my cords where they are. The clutter bugs me but not having them handy would bug me more. Talking about this issue publicly has motivated me to come up with a solution. Once I find the solution that suits me I’ll tell you about it.
