No Desk Rage in my home office
In an effort to catch up on some paperwork I stayed inside my home office most of the day. There was no time that I missed the outside world. My iPhone and my laptop provided the only necessary link to those that needed me. Could I do this everyday? I believe that I could and would not hesitate taking the chance.
Although a family business gives me the opportunity to somewhat “be my own boss” I know some people (customers) that work from home. I admire them for having the self discipline to get the work done with no one around to keep them focused. As someone that can loose themselves in their work too – I envy them.
Previous office positions have only made me decide what I do not want to do for the rest of my life. The office politics drive me crazy. I resent being told not to use my cell phone, not to carry my laptop with me and when and when not to go to the bathroom.
According to the media and bloggers on the internet there are a huge number of office workers that dislike their positions even worse than I did. My Google search just gave me 5,110,000 results for the term “desk rage”. Honestly before today I had not heard the term although I have witnessed something similar to what it is described to be. All I can say is that if the job is that bad – find different one!
The day has not come that I can spend my days working on my own projects in my own home office on a daily basis. Until then I will relish the idea that I am working towards my dreams in my home office. I will also get the mundane paperwork completed and take care of the duties that demand my attention. Whenever possible I will do it in my home office.
